Remnants Of A Dying Dream

The memories drifting away
floating further out of reach
we scream and strain curse and resist
ghosts having no more life to teach

Feelings once so everything
now melting like spring snow
omnipresence was all we had
how can we think of letting go?

No I am telling you it was perfect
nothing like it will ever be
it was left and right and all around
consuming every cell of me

Then something false drives it away
saying no more—you are done
feeling revelries continuing beyond the veil
somehow we face the rising sun
