We all have secret thoughts
we don't want the world to see
the scariest part of each of them
are they come from you and me

We all have hidden haunts
that only in darkness are free
in their shadows lurk the monsters
we fear may emerge from you and me

We all have shameful actions
to live without we cannot be
they are makings of our own two hands
they are the lives of you and me

We all have horror stories
penned in lies and blood and greed
each being an author of atrocities
each person like you and me

We all fortify the prisons
and bury deep the key
the strongest lock exists within
the mind of you and me
