Masochistic

Physical pain can be excruciating
as it twists scars breaks and deforms
but a bleeding soul hurts by far the most
a heart exposed
no flesh
no bone
no hearth
no home

Be careful what you wish for
is what the wise men say
sometimes you get it all then find
you want it all the other way
or maybe you get it all then realize
it all is such a waste

Why does it have to hurt so much
and must we suffer everything we touch
if suffering is all this is
then we must all be masochists
for somehow we all carry on
with this existence we profess to love
we continue carrying ourselves
down this carriage road from hell

To hell and back
and back again
I am on good terms with Father Time
and now living
can truly
begin
