Unfazeable
Unfazeable: a word that came to mind and I have been thinking about recently. It is a theme I am adopting for my training and I am also wanting to apply it outside of training.
Whatever happens, I will not become frantic. Even if things are worsening I will not hasten or intensify my demise by panicking. I will not beat myself or make it easier for whatever is assailing me.
Remaining calm and controlled and composed and breathing improves your chances of emerging or escaping or mitigating or "winning". Being hasty or frantic or panicking only increases your chances of making things worse, inducing greater suffering, "losing" (or dying).
I know what I know and I will execute what I know to the best of my ability. I will seek to refine and expand and keep refining what I know. I will face, not force, the unknown. I will trust my training because it is what I will default to when the stakes are highest.
What type of game do you want to have on the mat and type of person do you want to be off of it? Unfazeable: You (may) surprise or suppress or even best me but you will not faze me. It (may) not be (the most) complex or glamorous or (potentially even) "victorious". But it is (or will be) focused and intentional and reliable, and me.
