Early

Every few weeks or so, usually when I have a packed Friday or have to miss a Saturday, I get up early and train on Friday morning.

Having and keeping a routine helps you break it when needed. An intentional variation from your schedule here and there helps you progress because it keeps the progressive action in your routine; but, if your normal is hectic and unpredictable, you remain perpetually stressed out and strung out and broken down, which is unhelpful and unhealthy and unsustainable, and, by definition and extension, no way to sustain — much less improve — anything.

If the choices are getting up early to train or not training at all, well, you need to train, but you also need to make sure you are structuring your schedule and getting consistent and quality sleep; otherwise, the craziness and inconsistency mess up training and everything else in your life.

Jocko Willink says discipline equals freedom. You need to define what is most important in your life and that you value and are going to prioritize. You need to find what is essential, what you truly care about, what you are willing to be disciplined for. Regardless of what you may say or think, your actions tell the truth.

Training, exercise, activity, motion, have to happen. Your mind and body feel better, and the lives of those around you also get better because your mind and body feel better.

Consistency wins. Structure and systems win. Habits and priorities win. Physicality is non-negotiable and health is not a hobby. They make everything about life better.

Friday. Always a good time. Thank you.
